Scholar Partnership LMS

Since many years FBH and Lise-Meitner-Schule (LMS) closely cooperate. Amongst others, LMS - the school of science as a vocational college is involved in dual education of microtechnologists for more than ten years. Moreover, in Autumn 2005 the joint school lab MicroLAB was founded and the already existing cooperation was fixed in December 2008 by a cooperation contract.

The school lab MicroLAB connects experiments in microsystems technology with insights in scientific processes at a research institution. MicroLAB provides practical knowledge in microsystems technology for external student groups as well as for pupils from the LMS. The school and the institute are constantly working on improving experiments from a technical as well as from a pedagogical point of view - the results gained are then used in the education of microtechnologists and even seminar papers have been developed within this framework.

For vocational preparation, LMS has established close contact to companies and research institutes in order to provide an understanding for realistic working conditions for both adolescents and teachers. FBH supports pupils by advising them how to succeed with their applications and by offering an insight view and experience with the assistance of the institute's trainees, students and Ph.D. students.

Also organizationally, FBH and LMS are closely connected. One of the specialist subject teachers of the LMS, who is also responsible for the school lab, is meanwhile intemately involved in the Education Network High Technology Berlin (ANH Berlin), initiated by the FBH. The Lise-Meitner-School coordinates the qualification network microtechnology Berlin-Brandenburg, where various companies that take on trainees are aligned. Additional activities are executed within the framework of MANO (Microsystems Education in Northeastern Germany) and AWNET (Further Education Network for Microsystems Technology) which are also located at the FBH.

Lise-Meitner-Schule

The Lise-Meitner-School is a secondary college for scientific, mathematical and technical training in Berlin.

It offers both general and professional education uniting several qualifications under the same roof:

  • professional grammar school
  • vocational school
  • vocational college for technical assistants
  • technical college
  • other year long qualifications

By chosing certain combinations of their subjects during grammar school, pupils have the opportunity to achieve the qualification of a technical assistant in only one further year.

LMS runs serval school labs, offering e.g. courses in microtechnology, genetic engineering and neurobiology for external student groups. In these and other laboratories, LMS also holds further trainings for primary school teachers in the natural scientific subject "NAWI".
