Diode Lasers

The FBH conducts research and development in the fields of novel laser diodes and laser diode systems. The institute covers the whole value chain and offers a wide spectrum of laser diodes ranging from the visible to near infrared.

The focus of our work is improving brightness, beam quality, the high efficiency and outstanding reliability of high-power laser diodes. The research includes new approaches to design as well as continuous improvement of material components essentially based on our profound know-how in manufacturing tailor-made diode lasers.

Applications range from the pumping of solid-state lasers and direct material processing to display technology and optical communications.

The Buisness Area Diode Lasers is involved in the development of semiconductor laser diodes with high brilliance (C5) within the Sonderforschungsbereich 787.
