High-Brightness Lasers
The goal in this field is to achieve high spatial and spectral brightness in monolithic laser diodes by implementing mode filters.
Research activities focus on improving the beam quality at extremely high output powers (e.g. by using tapered lasers) as well as integrating Bragg gratings in order to stabilize and spectrally narrow the radiation of the output beam.
Fields of application of such high brightness laser diodes are in spectroscopy, measuring and control technology, state selection in atomic clocks, non-linear frequency conversion as well as in pumping of solid-state lasers.
