FBH's four scientific departments merge the scientific and technological core competence of the institute, providing technical resources and comprehensive know-how for the institute's research.

The spectrum of the work ranges from basic research projects to devices delivered as demonstrators or pilot series to industrial partners. From the outset, FBH considers all aspects of the future use in applications.

These technically-oriented departments are supplemented by the Science Management Department, which is involved in strategic positioning of the institute, technology transfer and marketing and is also active in education and training management.
