Spin-offs

Logo BeMiTec

BeMiTec AG was founded in january 2006 as a spin-off company by seven scientists and executives of the FBH. Based on the longterm experience of the institute in RF technology, the company develops, manufactures and markets high-power galliumnitride transistors (GaN) for future applications in mobile communications. Present GaN transistors show the international top level result of 100 W output-power (CW) and enable a significantly increased bandwidth. These properties are the preconditions for mobile services with high data rates, the pooling of many services in one single amplifier module, as well as the miniaturization of devices.

Logo eagleyard Photonics

eagleyard Photonics GmbH, founded in 2002, is a global leading provider of high-power laser diodes
with wavelengths ranging from 650 nm to 1120 nm. The products combine maximum power, highest durability, and excellent beam quality – well suited for industrial, medical, aerospace, and scientific applications.

Logo IXYS Berlin

Founded in 2000, IXYS Berlin develops and manufactures in cooperation with the FBH power Schottky diodes based on GaAs. Current applications are switch mode power supplies (SMPS), high frequency converters, but also applications in automotive and audio. For the development of this product family, IXYS Berlin, FBH and Three-Five-Epitaxial-Services AG (TESAG) were awarded the Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Prize in 2002.

Logo Jenoptik

JENOPTIK Diode Lab GmbH was founded in 2002 as a JENOPTIK subsidiary which was a result of the close cooperation between Ferdinand-Braun-Institut and JENOPTIK AG. Diode Lab produces high power laser diodes with wavelengths ranging from 650 nm to 1150 nm for applications in materials processing, medicine and display technology. The laser diodes are specified, developed and optimized in close cooperation with FBH. They are characterized by an excellent beam characteristic and a long lifetime.

Logo Tesag

Three-Five Epitaxial Services AG (TESAG) was founded in 1999 by employees of the FBH. As an epiwafer foundry TESAG produces semiconductor layer structures for compound semiconductor devices such as laser diodes, light emitting diodes (LEDs), transistors (HBTs) or Schottky diodes. Its customers are worldwide manufacturers of such devices. TESAG thus translates the research experience gathered at the FBH as a center of competence for vapor phase epitaxy into industrial production. Since January 2009, TESAG belongs to the JENOPTIK AG. By integrating the layer production in their supply chain of high-power laser diodes, JENOPTIK Diode Lab GmbH extends its expertise in the field of epitaxial wafer production.
