Set your text to music - concert "Lichtblicke"
10 October 2015, 6 pm (LP12 - Mall of Berlin)
Already in 2014 – in preparation for the International Year of Light - FBH had launched the writing contest LichtBlicke. It was based on a good practice example of outreach in Photonics from ICFO Barcelona. Students from 7th to 12th grade in Berlin and Brandenburg schools were asked to submit texts about light (poems, short stories, essays).
The most interesting texts were selected by a jury consisting of representatives from both the science and technology field as well as the cultural and creative industries. Ten texts were turned into lyrics for songs composed by young musicians from Berlin and were presented at a concert on October 10th 2015 at the Mall of Berlin. All participants, their families and friends along with people interested in “illuminative” music of several styles had been invited to join. The concert was the opening for the PhotonicSplash a series of events illustrating Photonics - the science and light technologies - and its importance for our daily lives. The concert coincided with the Festival of Lights / Berlin leuchtet” Programme that attracts every year thousands of visitors.
Daniel Hirsch, who was awarded the Kurt-Magnus-Preis in 2014 and who is working for the popular youth radio station „Fritz“, led through the programme. One of the highlights was the special performance of Elen Wendt a Berlin singer/songwriter well known from the TV-series „Voice of Germany“.
